Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, fee structures, and regulatory environments, all of which influence how participants price risk. Polymarket may draw more sophisticated arbitrageurs, while Kalshi might see retail-driven momentum. Liquidity depth also varies—a thin order book on one platform can cause prices to lag behind the other. These gaps create opportunities for alert traders to exploit temporary mispricings, though they typically narrow as information spreads across both venues.
Key catalysts include lineup announcements, injury reports on star players, recent team form and head-to-head history, and weather conditions at game time. Betting action from sharp money or public sentiment shifts can also drive rapid repricing on both platforms. Breaking news about roster changes or manager decisions often triggers volatility. Additionally, as the game approaches, real-time updates during play—such as early scoring or momentum swings—will influence late traders adjusting their positions before final settlement.
