Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and profit margin, while prediction markets price outcomes based on trader consensus and real-money conviction. This market aggregates the collective judgment of participants who profit or lose based on accuracy, which can lead to sharper, less biased estimates than traditional betting lines. Comparing the two can reveal where public opinion and professional oddsmakers disagree on the second half result.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker pool. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome has an implied probability derived from its share price, and the spread between bid and ask reflects liquidity and uncertainty. As new information emerges—injuries, tactical shifts, or in-game momentum—traders adjust their positions, moving prices to reflect updated expectations for the second half result.
This market resolves around Jul 21, 2026, once the match concludes and the second half result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the final score and result during the second half period only, independent of the first half. Resolution occurs after official confirmation, ensuring accuracy before payouts are distributed to winning traders.
Key catalysts include team lineups and injury announcements before kickoff, which shift expectations for attacking or defensive capability. Early second half momentum, goals, and tactical adjustments will drive sharp repricing as traders react to live action. Red cards, substitutions, and weather conditions can also swing odds significantly. Late-match developments—such as a team chasing an equalizer or playing defensively to protect a lead—typically generate the most volatile price movements as the final whistle approaches.
