Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are priced by traders seeking to profit on accurate forecasts. Prediction markets typically incorporate real-time information more fluidly and can shift rapidly as new data emerges. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal whether traders are pricing the first five innings outcome more bullishly or bearishly than traditional oddsmakers.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker mechanism where buying and selling pressure directly moves the odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—Braves or Giants leading after five innings—has its own price that reflects the cumulative belief of all market participants. As traders buy shares of one outcome, its price rises and the competing outcome's price falls, creating a dynamic equilibrium. The market price you see at any moment represents the consensus probability among active traders on the platform.
This market resolves around Jun 28, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the final score for that period is verifiable. The outcome is determined by which team has the higher run total after exactly five innings have been played. Resolution is confirmed once the result is verified against credible public sources covering the game. Early or postponed games may affect timing, but the core logic remains: whichever team is ahead on the scoreboard at the five-inning mark wins this market.
Several factors can shift odds before the game begins and during the first five innings. Injury announcements, lineup changes, or late-breaking roster news can alter perceived team strength. Weather conditions, ballpark factors, and starting pitcher performance all influence early-game momentum and scoring patterns. Real-time game events—such as early runs, defensive plays, or pitcher changes—will cause sharp repricing as traders react to live action. Public betting trends and sharp money flowing into one side can also accelerate price movement as the market incorporates new information.
