Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different purposes and audiences. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets reflect aggregated trader belief about the true outcome probability. This market may show a different implied probability than what you'd see at a traditional sportsbook, since prediction markets reward accuracy over time and attract participants focused on forecasting rather than wagering for entertainment. Comparing the two can reveal where the broader market sees value.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on order flow and liquidity. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on the outcome, and the current price reflects the collective assessment of all active traders. As new information emerges—injury reports, lineup changes, or betting action—the price updates continuously. Deeper liquidity typically narrows spreads and makes prices more stable, while thin liquidity can amplify volatility around key events.
This market resolves around Jul 16, 2026, once the game concludes and the final result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the official game result as recorded by Major League Baseball. Until that point, traders can continue to buy and sell shares as new developments unfold. Resolution is automatic once the event is confirmed, and all positions settle according to the final outcome.
Key catalysts include injury announcements, roster changes, and starting pitcher confirmations, all of which can shift win probability significantly. Weather conditions, travel delays, and recent team performance streaks also influence trader positioning. Breaking news about player availability or unexpected lineup adjustments typically triggers sharp price movement. Additionally, early-game developments—such as an early lead or a critical play—can prompt rapid repricing as traders update their forecasts based on real-time game flow.
