Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and profit margins, while prediction markets aggregate the collective beliefs of traders who have real financial exposure to accuracy. This market's odds on Polymarket represent crowd-sourced probability estimates from traders betting their own capital. Comparing these odds to major sportsbooks can reveal where the prediction market consensus differs from professional oddsmakers, potentially highlighting value or consensus shifts in how the match is perceived.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome share reflects the current probability estimate, with share prices ranging from near zero to one dollar. As traders place orders, the market price adjusts dynamically based on supply and demand. This continuous pricing model allows participants to enter or exit positions at transparent, real-time rates throughout the trading window.
