Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven purely by trader supply and demand. This market's odds represent what thousands of independent traders believe will happen, unfiltered by a bookmaker's margin. Comparing the two can reveal where public sentiment differs from professional oddsmakers. Many traders use sportsbook lines as a reference point but find prediction markets valuable for spotting mispricing and accessing deeper liquidity on niche outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker (AMM) model where traders buy and sell outcome shares directly against a liquidity pool. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome contract moves based on the ratio of shares in the pool—as more traders buy a particular outcome, its price rises, and vice versa. This continuous pricing mechanism ensures tight spreads and allows traders to enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes. The current odds reflect the equilibrium price where supply and demand balance across all possible outcomes.
This market resolves around Jul 17, 2026, after the game concludes and the result is confirmed. The outcome will be verified against credible public sources to determine which team won or whether specific in-game events occurred as predicted. Once the event is finalized and reported by official sports media, the market settles and traders' positions are paid out according to the actual result. Until that point, prices will fluctuate as new information emerges and game time approaches.
Several factors can shift prices in this market before it resolves. Injury reports, lineup announcements, and weather conditions at game time all influence trader expectations. Recent team performance, head-to-head records, and pitching matchups are key catalysts that traders monitor closely. Breaking news about player availability or roster changes can trigger sharp price moves. As game time approaches, live updates during pre-game coverage often drive final adjustments. Traders also react to related markets and external sports news that affects either team's momentum or perceived advantage.
