Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set lines based on statistical models and public betting patterns, this market represents the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a wider range of information and potentially identifying discrepancies in sportsbook pricing. It’s common to see differences, especially when there’s significant public interest or disagreement about the likely outcome. Examining these differences can reveal insights into where the market believes sportsbooks may be over or underestimating probabilities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the match's likely result. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on new information and changing sentiment.
