Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, and can sometimes differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their odds based on statistical models and the insights of their own experts, while this market is driven by the willingness of individuals to buy or sell based on their own research and beliefs. Discrepancies can emerge due to differing information, risk assessments, or even behavioral biases. It's common to see prediction markets incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, especially in response to breaking news or unexpected developments related to the players.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders can buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and are not influenced by external factors or other prediction markets. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective assessment of the event’s likelihood.

Several signals or events could significantly move this market before it resolves. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching staff, or unexpected performance in prior matches could shift trader sentiment. Publicly released analysis from tennis experts, or even significant betting activity in traditional sportsbooks, might also influence trading behavior. Unexpected weather conditions, if the match is played outdoors, could also be a catalyst. Ultimately, any information that alters the perceived probability of either player winning is likely to cause fluctuations in the market price.
