Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the wisdom of the crowd on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probabilities as perceived by traders. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust based on new information and collective insights. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, information access, or risk appetites.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Pridankina vs Zaytseva match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, increased selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants.
