Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook odds which may be influenced by factors like public perception or bookmaker biases. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action, while this market allows participants to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each outcome. If there’s a significant discrepancy, arbitrage opportunities may arise, incentivizing traders to exploit the difference. It’s common to see prediction market odds converge towards the true probability as more information becomes available and trading volume increases.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand. As more people buy shares in a specific outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the collective assessment of all traders participating in this market for the Ankara doubles tennis match, offering a dynamic and real-time estimate of the potential result.
