Sportsbooks often set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective wisdom of traders who have 'skin in the game'. You might find that this market’s implied probabilities differ from those offered by sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It’s common to see discrepancies, as each venue utilizes different models and responds to different signals.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more people buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived chance of victory. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading activity provide insights into the strength of conviction behind each prediction.

The platform will then determine the payout for winning contracts based on the final market price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Alabama or Kentucky would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions, could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team morale, coaching decisions, or even pre-game analysis from prominent sports commentators could all shift the perceived probabilities and move the market. Public betting patterns and expert predictions could also play a role.
