These markets focus on predicting the point differential in the first quarter of a college football game between Akron and Minnesota. Each market corresponds to a specific threshold of points by which either team must win the quarter to resolve as 'Yes'.
All markets resolve based solely on points scored during the first quarter of play in the Akron vs Minnesota college football game scheduled for September 19, 2026. If Minnesota wins the first quarter by exceeding the specified point threshold—from 2.5 to 23.5 points—the corresponding 'Minnesota wins 1Q by over X points' market resolves to Yes. Conversely, if Akron wins the first quarter by exceeding the specified threshold (2.5 to 10.5 points), the relevant 'Akron wins 1Q by over X points' market resolves to Yes. Markets remain open if the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, resolving based on the official result. If the game fails to start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. No affiliation with the NCAA is claimed, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, and can sometimes differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by a relatively small number of professional oddsmakers, while this market allows anyone to participate and express their beliefs about the likely outcome. It's common to see initial discrepancies, but as the event approaches, the odds on Kalshi tend to converge with sportsbook lines as more information becomes available and public sentiment solidifies. However, this market can offer a different perspective than traditional betting venues.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads for the first quarter. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to set prices accurately, as they profit from correctly predicting the outcome. As more traders participate, the prices become more efficient and representative of the overall expectation for the Akron vs Minnesota spread. The current price indicates what the market believes is the most likely outcome.
This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final first quarter spread of the Akron vs Minnesota game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result reported by the governing body of college football, ensuring an objective and transparent process. Traders holding contracts on the correct spread will receive a payout of 100, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will receive nothing. The specific spread that resolves will be the official margin at the end of the first quarter.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Akron or Minnesota teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions unfavorable to either team’s playing style, could also shift expectations. Furthermore, any late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions could impact the perceived likelihood of different spreads. Public sentiment, reflected in betting trends and expert analysis, will also play a role in shaping the price of contracts on Kalshi.
