Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders risking real capital on their beliefs about the outcome. Prediction markets typically aggregate dispersed information efficiently, sometimes pricing outcomes differently than bookmakers. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbook lines can reveal where the crowd's conviction differs from professional oddsmakers' assessments.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker mechanism, where each exact score outcome is represented as a separate contract. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of any outcome reflects the cumulative bets placed on it relative to all other possible scorelines. As traders buy or sell contracts, prices adjust algorithmically to balance supply and demand. This continuous repricing ensures the market remains liquid and responsive to new information about team form, injuries, or other factors affecting the likely final score.
This market resolves around Jul 18, 2026, once the match concludes and the final scoreline is confirmed. The outcome is determined by the actual goals scored by each team during regulation play, verified against credible public sources covering the fixture. Traders holding contracts matching the true exact score receive their payouts, while all other positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final whistle, allowing quick settlement and payout distribution to winners.
Key catalysts for this market include team news such as player injuries, suspensions, or lineup changes announced before kickoff. Recent form, head-to-head records, and tactical adjustments can shift trader expectations about likely scorelines. Weather conditions on match day may influence how the game unfolds and which exact scores become more or less probable. As the fixture date approaches, late-breaking developments—such as a manager's tactical shift or a star player's unexpected absence—often trigger sharp repricing across all outcome contracts in this market.
