Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket, potentially driving the odds closer to what they perceive as the true probability. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of money has been traded on this market.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each team scoring first. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event's potential outcomes. This means the odds can shift rapidly based on news, injuries, or changes in public perception. The current implied probability of a team scoring first is reflected in the share price.

This market resolves around Sep 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the AD San Carlos vs. CS Cartaginés match. The official match result, as reported by a trusted sports data source, will determine the winning outcome. Traders who hold shares in the correct outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final share price at the time of resolution. The platform will verify the result and distribute funds accordingly.

Several signals could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either AD San Carlos or CS Cartaginés would likely cause price movement. Changes in team form, such as a surprising win or loss in a recent match, could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match tactical announcements from the managers, could influence the perceived probabilities. Major shifts in public opinion, reflected in betting trends elsewhere, might also move this market on Polymarket.
