The ceremony for the 79th Annual Tony Awards is scheduled for June 7, 2026. This market will resolve according to the listed person that wins the award for Best Sound Design of a Play at the 79th Annual Tony Awards. If, for any reason, no winner is declared by August 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or in case of a tie for the winner, this market will resolve in favor of the listed contender whose name comes first in alphabetical order. The resolution source will be the television broadcast of the Tony Awards and the official Tony website (https://www.tonyawards.com/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus from traders betting on the 2026 Tony Awards Best Sound Design winner, while analyst forecasts typically rely on critical reviews, industry buzz, and historical voting patterns. Markets often price in late-breaking news—such as sound design accolades at regional theater festivals or industry guild recognitions—faster than traditional forecasters update their models. Comparing the two reveals whether the market is more bullish or bearish on particular nominees than expert opinion suggests, helping you identify potential mispricings.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, each nominated sound design is represented as a separate outcome contract. The price of each contract reflects the market's implied probability that design will win, ranging from 0 to 1 (or 0% to 100%). Traders buy and sell these contracts based on their conviction, and the order book depth determines how easily large positions can move prices. As new information emerges—such as Tony voter demographics or pre-ceremony industry awards—prices adjust dynamically to reflect updated expectations for each nominee.
The market resolves on Jun 7, 2026 following the official announcement of the Best Sound Design of a Play winner at the 2026 Tony Awards ceremony. The outcome is determined by which sound design team receives the award in that category. Until the ceremony concludes and the winner is officially declared, all nominated designs remain live trading opportunities. After resolution, the winning outcome is marked to 1 and all others to 0, settling all positions on the market.
Key catalysts include announcements of Tony voter eligibility and demographics, which may favor certain sound design aesthetics or theaters. Pre-ceremony industry awards—such as Drama Desk or Outer Critics Circle recognition—often signal voter sentiment. Opening night reviews and word-of-mouth about standout sound design in nominated plays can shift market odds significantly. Changes in nominee eligibility or production status, media coverage highlighting particular sound designers, and historical voting trends in the category all influence trader positioning. Closer to Jun 7, 2026, final balloting information and last-minute industry commentary typically drive the sharpest price movements.
