This event group tracks which player will be selected 5th overall in the 2026 MLB Draft. Both Kalshi and Polymarket offer binary markets on individual players from a curated list of draft prospects, with resolution tied to the official MLB draft outcome.
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed player is drafted fifth overall in the 2026 MLB Draft. Otherwise, it will resolve to "No". If the 2026 MLB Draft is canceled, postponed or not completed by July 26, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be official information from MLB. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Resolution is determined by which eligible player is selected as the 5th overall pick in the 2026 Pro Baseball Draft. Each outcome corresponds to a specific player; if that player is selected at the 5th pick position, the corresponding market resolves to Yes. Only one player can occupy the 5th pick, so only one outcome will resolve affirmatively.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, fee structures, and regulatory frameworks that influence how prices form. Polymarket and Kalshi may have varying liquidity pools, with one platform drawing more baseball-focused traders while the other attracts broader prediction market participants. Timing differences in order flow, distinct user interfaces, and platform-specific incentives can also create temporary spreads. These gaps typically narrow as informed traders arbitrage between venues, but they reflect real differences in how each community weights available information about draft prospects.
Several catalysts may shift trader sentiment before the draft concludes. College baseball performance, injury reports, and workout results at pre-draft events can elevate or diminish prospect valuations. Mock drafts from respected analysts and front-office commentary often trigger repricing, as do trades or organizational changes that alter draft strategy. International scouting updates and performance at showcase events also influence expectations. Additionally, real-time draft day developments—such as earlier-than-expected trades or surprise picks—will reshape odds for the fifth slot as the event unfolds.
