Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the ESPY record-breaking performance market dashboard displays real-time odds on which athlete will win the Best Record-Breaking Performance award at the 2026 ESPY Awards. The interface shows the current probability for each eligible contender, along with historical price movements and trading activity. You can monitor how odds shift as new performances emerge and the awards ceremony approaches. The dashboard provides transparency into market sentiment, helping traders and sports fans alike gauge which record-breaking feats are gaining the most confidence among prediction market participants.

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and profit, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of traders risking real capital on outcomes. For this market, prediction market participants are pricing in their assessment of which record-breaking performance will resonate most with ESPY voters. Sportsbooks may weight different factors or adjust lines based on betting volume rather than pure probability. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus differs and highlight potential value opportunities.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds for this market through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—representing a potential award winner—is priced as a percentage probability between 0 and 100. When traders believe a particular athlete's record-breaking performance is more likely to win, they buy that outcome, pushing its price upward. Conversely, selling pressure lowers an outcome's price. This continuous price discovery mechanism ensures the market reflects real-time expectations about which performance will ultimately claim the ESPY award.

This market resolves around Jul 15, 2026, following the official announcement of the Best Record-Breaking Performance winner at the 2026 ESPY Awards ceremony. The outcome is determined by the award decision made by ESPY voters and confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Until that date, odds will continue to fluctuate as new athletic achievements emerge and the awards date draws closer. Traders can adjust positions right up until the market closes, capturing any last-minute shifts in sentiment about which record-breaking feat will ultimately be honored.

Several catalysts could shift odds significantly before resolution. Major athletic performances—world records, historic statistical milestones, or unprecedented feats—will likely trigger immediate repricing as traders reassess contenders. Injury announcements or unexpected athlete retirements could eliminate or elevate certain candidates. Media coverage and expert commentary leading up to the ceremony may sway market perception of which performance resonates most with voters. Voting patterns from previous ESPY ceremonies could also inform trader expectations. As the awards date approaches, any official nominee announcements or pre-ceremony predictions will generate trading activity and reshape the probability landscape.
