Spotify curates a playlist of the most streamed songs globally and updates it on Fridays to reflect streaming data for the previous week, beginning on the preceding Friday and ending on Thursday. This market will resolve according to the second most-streamed song globally on Spotify for the week labeled September 25. Songs will be primarily ranked by order on the specified chart. If two or more songs are tied for any position, ties will be broken by alphabetical order of the songs' listed titles. This market will resolve to the song that occupies the second-highest finishing position after applying this ranking. If Spotify does not release its #2 song for the week labeled September 25 by September 26, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will default to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Spotify. The weekly top songs chart can be found on open.spotify.com under the "Charts" heading. Currently, it’s important to remember that this market represents the collective prediction of traders on Polymarket. Comparing these odds to external analyst forecasts or polls reveals how the wisdom of the crowd differs from expert opinion. If analysts overwhelmingly favor a particular song to be #2, but this market assigns a lower probability, it suggests traders may have different information or beliefs driving their decisions. This difference in perspective can be a valuable signal for those following the market.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in a song’s likelihood of being #2. The price of each share reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular song, its price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market odds constantly adjust to incorporate new information and changing sentiment.
This market resolves around Sep 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official Spotify charts for the week are published and the #2 song is verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will reflect which song held the #2 position on the Spotify charts at the end of the specified week. Traders who correctly predicted the #2 song will receive a payout based on the final market odds at resolution.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Unexpected surges in streams for a particular song, viral trends on social media boosting a song’s popularity, or even major artist endorsements could all shift the odds. Furthermore, the release of new music from competing artists could also impact the perceived likelihood of different songs reaching the #2 spot. Monitoring streaming data, social media buzz, and music news will be key to understanding potential market movements before Sep 25, 2026.
