Spotify curates a playlist of the most streamed songs globally and updates it on Fridays to reflect streaming data for the previous week, beginning on the preceding Friday and ending on Thursday. This market will resolve according to the second most-streamed song globally on Spotify for the week labeled November 6. Songs will be primarily ranked by order on the specified chart. If two or more songs are tied for any position, ties will be broken by alphabetical order of the songs' listed titles. This market will resolve to the song that occupies the second-highest finishing position after applying this ranking. If Spotify does not release its #2 song for the week labeled November 6 by November 7, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will default to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Spotify. The weekly top songs chart can be found on open.spotify.com under the "Charts" heading. This market and these products have not been endorsed by Spotify. Any references to Spotify, Spotify charts, streaming data, or any associated marks are descriptive only and do not indicate an endorsement of this product or any affiliation between Spotify and Polymarket. Comparing prediction market odds to analyst forecasts reveals how collective intelligence differs from expert opinion. Often, this market reflects a broader range of factors than traditional music charts or analyst predictions, incorporating real-time listening data and social media buzz. While analysts might focus on established artists, the market may give higher probability to emerging trends or viral songs. Discrepancies between the two can highlight overlooked factors or differing interpretations of the same data, offering a unique perspective on which song will achieve the #2 spot.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each song’s probability of being #2 on Spotify. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are driven by supply and demand; increased buying pressure raises the price, while selling pressure lowers it. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective assessment of the possible outcomes.
This market resolves around Nov 7, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official Spotify charts are released and the #2 song is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official ranking published by Spotify for the specified week. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final outcome. The market’s resolution process is designed to be transparent and based on an objective, publicly available source of truth.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before it resolves. A sudden surge in streams for a particular song, driven by social media trends or promotional campaigns, would likely increase its probability. Unexpected news related to an artist, such as a major performance or collaboration, could also impact the market. Furthermore, changes in playlist placements on Spotify or increased radio airplay could shift the odds. Monitoring these factors will be key to understanding potential price movements in this market.
