These markets predict which artist will be the #2 most-streamed artist globally on Spotify's 2026 Wrapped annual report. Both platforms resolve based on Spotify's official year-end rankings released in late 2026 or early 2027, with a defined list of candidate artists plus an 'Other' catch-all option.
Spotify releases an annual report of its most-streamed artists (see: https://newsroom.spotify.com/2024-12-04/top-songs-artists-podcasts-audiobooks-albums-trends-2024/). This market will resolve according to the second most-streamed Spotify artist for 2026. If Spotify does not release its second most-streamed artist for 2026 by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will default to "Other". If Spotify lists more than one artist as the second most-streamed artist, this market will resolve in favor of the artist whose name comes first in alphabetical order. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Spotify, typically released as part of Spotify Wrapped. Spotify is a registered mark of Spotify AB. Polymarket is not affiliated with Spotify AB and neither Spotify AB, nor its affiliates, sponsor or endorse Polymarket.
The market resolves to Yes if any of the specified artists achieves the #2 most-streamed position on Spotify's 2026 Spotify Wrapped Top 10 Artist Globally chart on the date the chart is released. Resolution is determined by Spotify's official rankings for that year. Only one artist can hold the second position, so only one outcome will resolve affirmatively.
Prediction market odds often provide a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. Analysts may rely on subjective factors or historical trends, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to make accurate predictions. The price action here can be seen as a real-time assessment of probabilities, incorporating a wider range of information and potential catalysts. While analyst opinions can be valuable, the aggregated forecasts within this market offer a unique, data-driven view of potential outcomes, potentially revealing insights missed by conventional analysis.
Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading dynamics, and risk appetite, which can lead to differing valuations. For example, Polymarket currently favors Will Drake be the second most streamed Spotify artist for 2026? at 76.5%, while Kalshi leans toward Will Drake be the #2 most streamed Artist on the 2026 Spotify Wrapped Top 10 Artist Globally chart on the date that the chart is released for 2026? at 73.0%. Differences in trading fees, margin requirements, and liquidity can also contribute to these price discrepancies. Furthermore, information flow and interpretation can vary between the two platforms, influencing traders’ assessments of the probabilities.
This market resolves around Feb 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on the official Spotify Wrapped Top 10 Artist Globally chart released for 2026, determining which artist holds the number two position in terms of total streams. The outcome will be determined by the publicly available data released by Spotify, ensuring transparency and objectivity in the resolution process. Traders should monitor announcements from Spotify regarding the release of the 2026 Wrapped data.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Major album releases, concert tours, and shifts in streaming habits of key artists are all potential catalysts. Unexpected collaborations or controversies involving leading contenders could also cause price fluctuations. Changes in Spotify’s algorithms or playlist curation strategies could influence artist visibility and streaming numbers. Additionally, broader trends in music consumption, such as the rise of new genres or platforms, could impact the relative popularity of different artists. Monitoring these events and analyzing their potential impact on streaming data will be crucial for traders in this market.
