Three professional golfers compete in a 3-ball matchup during the first round of the 2026 U.S. Open. The golfer with the lowest score for the round wins the matchup.
The winner of the 3-ball matchup is determined by the lowest score achieved during the 1st round of the 2026 U.S. Open. If multiple participants are tied for the lowest score at the end of the round, the Yes payout is divided equally among all tied participants, calculated as $1 divided by the number of tied participants and rounded down to the nearest cent, with the No payout equal to $1 minus the Yes payout. If any golfer withdraws prior to teeing off, all markets resolve to fair market value.
Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and protect their margins, while prediction markets aggregate the collective beliefs of traders risking real capital. This market aggregates trader conviction across Kalshi, potentially offering a distinct perspective from traditional sports betting lines. Comparing the two can reveal where professional bettors and casual traders disagree on outcome probabilities, though each source has its own strengths in accuracy and timeliness.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for shares representing each outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share reflects the collective willingness of buyers and sellers to transact at that level, with higher prices indicating stronger perceived likelihood. As new information emerges or sentiment shifts, traders adjust their orders, causing prices to move in real time. This dynamic pricing ensures the market continuously incorporates fresh data and trader conviction about the match's probable result.
This market resolves around Jun 18, 2026, once the 3-Ball match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome will be confirmed based on the official event results, ensuring accuracy and fairness for all traders. Until that point, prices may fluctuate as new developments, player form, or other relevant information becomes available. Resolution typically occurs shortly after the event finishes, allowing traders to settle their positions promptly.
Several factors could shift prices in this market before resolution. Player injuries, recent performance trends, or changes in playing conditions may influence trader expectations about each competitor's chances. News coverage, expert commentary, or social media momentum can also sway sentiment. Closer to the event date, any official announcements regarding format changes or participant status could trigger sharp repricing. Additionally, if one player gains visible momentum or confidence in pre-event interviews, traders may adjust their positions accordingly, creating volatility in the odds.
