Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of people believe an outcome is more likely than a sportsbook suggests, the price will move accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of each type of market. It’s common to see this market offer odds that are more accurate, particularly as the event approaches and more information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will rise, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence regarding the Zeniuk vs. Molochko match.
