Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the differing incentives and information sources. Sportsbooks set odds to maximize profit, factoring in a 'vig' or commission, while prediction markets allow participants to directly express their beliefs. This market reflects the wisdom of the crowd, potentially incorporating information not readily available to sportsbooks. Furthermore, prediction markets allow for continuous price discovery as new information emerges, whereas sportsbook odds are typically adjusted less frequently. This can lead to more accurate predictions, especially closer to the event.
