Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often proving more accurate than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks incorporate a profit margin into their odds, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs. If sportsbook odds significantly differ from those seen here, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook is undervaluing or overvaluing a particular outcome. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different information and methodologies, and discrepancies can occur.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome of the Saitoh vs Takahashi fight. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, directly reflecting the collective prediction of market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will rise, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic and real-time assessment of the fight’s potential results.
