Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by professional oddsmakers, while this market is driven by individual traders expressing their beliefs about the outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Analyzing these differences can provide valuable insights, but it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, not guarantees, of the final result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, reflecting the aggregated predictions of its user base regarding the Fajing Sun vs Aoran Wang match.
