Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply a larger and more diverse pool of participants. If significant differences exist between the odds offered here and those at sportsbooks, it could indicate that the market believes there's value in a particular outcome that sportsbooks haven’t fully priced in.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price reflects the aggregated sentiment of all participants, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the potential result of the Bayldon vs Ichikawa match. This allows for a fluid and responsive pricing system.
