Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on internal models and may adjust them based on betting action, but they also incorporate a profit margin. This market, driven by traders on Polymarket, aims to represent the true probability of each outcome, potentially offering a more accurate assessment than sportsbook lines, especially as more information becomes available. However, discrepancies can occur due to differing opinions and market dynamics.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Guo vs Cirstea match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe a particular outcome will occur, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will rise, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants.
