Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess the probability of an event. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, especially as new information emerges. It’s common to see this market reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially identifying discrepancies between public perception and the likelihood of a specific outcome as assessed by informed bettors. Comparing these odds can provide valuable insights for those interested in the match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the market’s collective probability assessment. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price fluctuates, providing a real-time indication of expectations. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price indicates the market’s expectation of the likelihood of McNally/Tjen and Tang/Xu winning the doubles match, and is driven entirely by supply and demand within the Polymarket ecosystem.
