Frequently asked questions

Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set initial lines based on expert analysis and public perception, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by the wisdom of the crowd, where traders directly express their beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, risk assessments, or simply varying opinions on the players' form and potential performance. Observing these differences can be insightful for those seeking a comprehensive view of the event’s possible results.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time forecast. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders believe a player will win, the price of shares representing that outcome increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants, offering a unique perspective on the potential winner of the Wang vs Sun match.
