Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to discrepancies, as prediction markets aggregate the wisdom of the crowd and are less susceptible to biases inherent in sportsbook setting. It is common to see this market offer odds that differ from those available at conventional betting sites, potentially providing value for informed traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome.
