Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. This market, like others, can reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially incorporating information not fully captured by sportsbook algorithms. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, prediction markets allow anyone to trade, meaning the odds can shift rapidly based on new information or changing sentiment. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, adjusting in real-time to new information and perspectives on the WTT Champions match.
