Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each outcome. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, especially when there's significant public interest or disagreement about the event. It's common to see prediction markets aggregate information from a wider range of sources and potentially identify mispricings that sportsbooks haven't yet corrected.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. As more shares are traded, the price of those shares adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a 'yes' share, for example, indicates the market's estimated probability that the Australia Champions will hit more sixes than the South Africa Champions. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to new information and changing sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final number of sixes hit by each team during the World Championship of Legends match will be the determining factor. The market will then settle to reflect whether the Australia Champions or the South Africa Champions hit more sixes, based on official match statistics. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will receive a payout, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their stake.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player form, potential injuries, or changes in team strategy could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, if they affect batting conditions, might also play a role. Furthermore, significant betting activity in traditional sportsbooks, or even influential analysts releasing their predictions, could cause traders on Polymarket to reassess their probabilities. Major upsets in other related matches could also indirectly impact confidence in either team.
