Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which can be influenced by factors like house bias or initial public perception. Sportsbooks may set initial lines to attract betting action, while this market allows traders to continuously update probabilities based on new information and analysis. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or breaking news, as the market digests information independently. Examining these differences can reveal insights into public versus informed opinion regarding the likely outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice-versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of those actively trading it, offering a real-time assessment of the likelihood of each top batter being selected.

This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The top batter for each team in the World Championship of Legends will be determined based on official tournament statistics. The market will settle to the outcome that aligns with the official results published by the tournament organizers. Resolution will occur promptly after the conclusion of the relevant matches and the official announcement of the top batters, ensuring a timely and accurate settlement of this market.

Several factors could significantly influence this market. Any news regarding player form, injuries, or changes in team strategy would likely cause price adjustments. Unexpected performances in preceding matches, or even weather conditions impacting batting conditions, could also shift probabilities. Major announcements about team selections or tactical approaches could also be catalysts. Furthermore, any significant public endorsements or expert analysis predicting a particular player's success could influence trading activity and move the market until resolution.
