Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms. However, it’s important to note that prediction markets often have lower liquidity than established sportsbooks, which can influence price discovery.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event’s likelihood. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market remains responsive to changing conditions and incorporates the latest insights from participants.

This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official results of the Wolfdogs Nagoya versus Tokyo Great Bears game in the Japanese basketball league. The platform will identify the winning team and use that information to determine which shares payout. It’s important to remember that the resolution process relies on publicly available, verifiable data to ensure a fair and transparent outcome for all traders.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in team lineups, or unexpected performance in preceding games could shift trader sentiment. Major upsets in other games within the Japanese basketball league could also impact perceptions of team strength and overall competitiveness. Additionally, significant media coverage or expert analysis highlighting a team’s advantages or disadvantages could drive trading activity and cause the market to move. Monitoring these signals is key to understanding potential price fluctuations.
