Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, reflecting their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Predict, tends to more closely reflect the true probabilities as perceived by the crowd. However, differences can arise due to varying levels of information, biases, and risk appetites between prediction market participants and sportsbook customers. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information than sportsbooks.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy into a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The platform uses a dynamic pricing model, adjusting in real-time to reflect supply and demand. This creates a fluid and responsive market that aims to accurately predict the result of the William & Mary vs. North Carolina Central game.
