This market will resolve "Yes" if the Peak Viewership of any qualifying 2026 VALORANT international event exceeds the Peak Viewership of the highest-peaking qualifying 2026 CS2 Major, as measured by Esports Charts. Otherwise, this market will resolve "No." "Qualifying VALORANT event" refers to: Valorant Masters Santiago 2026, Valorant Masters London 2026, Valorant EWC 2026, or Valorant Champions 2026 (Shanghai). "Qualifying CS2 Major" means either of the two 2026 Valve-sponsored Majors: IEM Cologne Major 2026 or PGL Major Singapore 2026. "Peak Viewership" means the peak concurrent viewer count for the event's main broadcast as reported by Esports Charts (https://escharts.com), excluding Chinese platform viewership, consistent with Esports Charts' standard methodology. This market resolves "Yes" if at least one qualifying VALORANT event's peak viewership figure is greater than the larger of the two CS2 Majors' peak viewership figures. The comparison uses each event's single highest peak-viewer figure across the full event. If a qualifying event is cancelled or not held, it is simply excluded from the comparison. If no qualifying CS2 Major or no qualifying VALORANT event takes place in 2026, or if Esports Charts does not publish peak viewership figures for the relevant events by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No." The resolution source for this market will be Esports Charts (https://escharts.com). A consensus of credible reporting may also be used where Esports Charts figures are unavailable or disputed.

Prediction markets and sportsbooks operate on fundamentally different models. Sportsbooks set fixed odds and manage risk through margin; prediction markets like this one allow traders to continuously buy and sell shares, with prices determined by supply and demand. This market reflects real-time consensus among esports enthusiasts, analysts, and informed traders rather than a bookmaker's calculated spread. Because prediction markets reward accuracy and penalize poor forecasts, they often capture emerging information faster than traditional odds. For esports viewership outcomes, prediction market pricing tends to incorporate grassroots sentiment and insider knowledge that sportsbooks may not yet reflect.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader activity into continuous probability estimates. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders purchase shares representing "Yes" (VALORANT viewership surpasses CS2 at a major in 2026) or "No" outcomes; the price of each share fluctuates based on cumulative buy and sell pressure. Higher trading volume typically narrows spreads and increases price stability. As major tournaments approach and viewership data becomes available, price discovery accelerates. The market's current price reflects the aggregate belief of all active traders, updated in real time as new information and sentiment emerge.
This market resolves around Jan 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution hinges on whether VALORANT viewership exceeds CS2 viewership at a major esports tournament during 2026. Major tournaments are typically those sanctioned by game publishers or recognized by leading esports media outlets. Viewership figures are cross-checked against official broadcaster data, third-party tracking services, and industry reporting. Once the relevant major event concludes and viewership metrics are published, the market outcome is determined and trader positions are settled accordingly.
Several catalysts could shift this market significantly. Major tournament announcements and prize pools for both games influence competitive prestige and viewership expectations. Roster changes, player transfers, and franchise investments signal competitive momentum. Patch updates and balance changes affect gameplay appeal and viewer engagement. Streaming platform exclusivity deals or broadcast partnerships can dramatically alter audience reach. Real-time viewership data from preliminary events in 2025 and early 2026 will provide concrete benchmarks. Sponsorship announcements, esports org expansions, and media coverage trends also shape community sentiment. Any shift in either game's competitive calendar or production quality could materially impact trader positioning before resolution.
