This market tracks whether Elon Musk will obtain full or primary custody of his son Romulus through a final court order. On Polymarket, the probability of a yes resolution stands at 7.3%. The market resolves based on announcements from Elon Musk, Ashley St. Clair, their legal representatives, or credible reporting, with resolution occurring if a final custody order is issued by any U.S. court by December 31, 2026, 11:59PM ET. Watch for updates on court filings and proceedings, as temporary custody arrangements will not trigger a yes resolution unless they become final orders before the market deadline.
On January 12, Elon Musk announced he would be filing for full custody of the child he shares with Ashley St. Clair. (see: https://www.eonline.com/news/1427282/elon-musk-filing-for-full-custody-of-son-with-ashley-st-clair) This market will resolve to "Yes" if Elon Musk is awarded sole legal custody, or primary residential/physical custody of his son Romulus in the form of a final order by any U.S. court by December 31, 2026, 11:59PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Temporary custody orders or interim arrangements will not qualify this market towards a "Yes" resolution unless they become final orders by the stated market deadline. This market will resolve immediately to "No" if all relevant court proceedings permanently cease, or are dropped by either party. This market will resolve based on announcements from Elon Musk, Ashley St. Clair, their official legal or social media representatives, or a consensus of credible reporting.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome, and the price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand. As more traders believe Elon Musk will gain full custody, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price reflects the market’s aggregate assessment of the probability, and the volume traded indicates the level of interest and conviction surrounding the event.
This market resolves around Jan 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the final custody decision is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on official court documents and rulings regarding the custody arrangement of the child involved. The market will determine whether Elon Musk has been granted full legal and physical custody, as defined by the court’s order. Any appeals or further legal challenges that significantly alter the initial custody arrangement could also be considered in the resolution process.
Several events could significantly impact this market. Major developments in the legal proceedings, such as court hearings, filings, or rulings, are likely to cause price fluctuations. Public statements from Elon Musk, the child’s mother, or involved legal representatives could also move the market. Unexpected media coverage or the release of new information related to the case could also influence trader sentiment. Any changes to the legal landscape surrounding child custody laws could also be a catalyst, as could any significant personal events impacting the parties involved.
