Description

This market will resolve to "Yes" if at least one North American team reaches the Knockout Stage of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2026), currently scheduled for October 15 to November 14, 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A North American team is a team that qualified for the tournament through the LCS (North America). Teams that qualified through the LCK, the LPL, the LEC, the LCP, or the CBLOL are not North American teams. A team that enters the Swiss Stage through the Play-In keeps the region it qualified through. A team is considered to have reached the Knockout Stage if it is officially confirmed as one of the eight teams advancing from the Swiss Stage to the Knockout Stage (quarterfinals). If the Knockout Stage field is not determined by December 14, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or the tournament is canceled or postponed past that date, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the tournament organizer, Riot Games, via the LoL Esports website (https://lolesports.com). However, a consensus of credible reporting (e.g., Liquipedia at https://liquipedia.net/leagueoflegends/World_Championship/2026) may also be used.

Comparing prediction market odds to sportsbook odds reveals how collective intelligence differs from traditional oddsmaking. Often, prediction markets, like this one, can incorporate information more rapidly than sportsbooks, especially regarding nuanced factors or breaking news. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market reflects the real-time beliefs of a diverse group of traders. Any significant differences in odds between the two could indicate discrepancies in perceived probabilities or differing access to information.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of the event occurring – a share priced at 60 means there's a 60% implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand, driven by new information and changing opinions among traders. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective forecast.

This market resolves around Dec 15, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether at least one team representing a North American nation (Canada, Mexico, or the United States) advances to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Official tournament results from FIFA will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome of this market. The final result will be publicly available and easily verifiable.

Several signals could significantly move this market. Key factors include the performance of North American teams in qualifying matches, coaching changes, and the emergence of star players. Major injuries to key players on these teams could also impact the market. Additionally, any significant shifts in public opinion or expert analysis regarding the strength of North American soccer programs could influence trading activity. Unexpected results in international friendlies or other tournaments leading up to the World Cup could also drive price fluctuations in this market.
