Resolves Feb 1, 2027
$
This market will resolve according to the title of the movie which grosses more domestically on its opening week than any other movie in 2026. The “Weekly Box Office Performance” table on the page for the relevant movie on https://www.the-numbers.com/box-office will be used to resolve this market once the values for the opening week are final (i.e. not studio estimates). This market will resolve to "Yes" if the relevant movie grosses more on its domestic opening week than any other movie in 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Please note, this market will resolve according to the The Numbers figures provided under Weekly Box Office Performance for the opening week, regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc. Resolution will be based specifically on the figures provided for this movie's opening week. If another movie's opening week box office performance surpasses that of the named movie after numbers for both are finalized, this market may immediately resolve to "No". If this movie's opening weekend box office performance ties with any other's, the movie whose title comes first in alphabetical order will win. If there is no final data available by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.

On Polymarket, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each movie’s likelihood of having the biggest opening weekend. As more shares are traded for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share represents the probability of that outcome occurring, and traders aim to profit by accurately predicting the market’s outcome. The current volume of $253,033 indicates significant interest in this event.
This market resolves around Feb 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the movie with the highest domestic opening weekend gross in 2026, as reported by a major box office tracking service, will be considered the winner. The resolution will be based on publicly available data and will not rely on any subjective interpretation. Traders should monitor box office reports following the release of major films throughout 2026 to stay informed.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Announcements of release dates for highly anticipated films, especially those belonging to major franchises, will likely cause shifts in probabilities. Positive or negative critical reception of trailers and early marketing materials could also influence trading activity. Unexpected production delays or cast changes could also move the market. Finally, the performance of films released in the months leading up to 2026 could set the tone and impact expectations for the year’s biggest blockbusters.
