This market focuses on determining which team will score more points in a specific segment of an upcoming college football game. It provides a way to speculate on short-term performance during the third quarter of the match, independent of the final game result. Outcomes are based solely on points scored during that quarter, with specific handling for game postponements.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points during the third quarter of the West Virginia vs TCU college football game scheduled for October 24, 2026. If TCU scores more points in that quarter, the TCU market resolves to Yes. If West Virginia scores more points, its market resolves to Yes. If both teams score an equal number of points, the Tie market resolves to Yes. For all markets, only points scored during the third quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds to attract balanced betting, incorporating a profit margin, while this market represents what traders collectively believe will happen. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information or biases, but as more information becomes available and trading volume increases, the odds in this market often converge towards a more accurate probability assessment. It's a useful comparison to see where public opinion and professional oddsmakers align or diverge.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome—West Virginia winning the 3rd quarter or TCU winning the 3rd quarter. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more contracts are bought for a specific outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. Conversely, selling contracts lowers the price and probability. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust its predictions.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team—West Virginia or TCU—has the higher score at the end of the 3rd quarter of the game. The official game results, as reported by a trusted sports data source, will determine the winning outcome. The platform will then settle all outstanding contracts based on the final result, paying out to those who correctly predicted the 3rd quarter winner.
Several factors could significantly influence the trading activity in this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either West Virginia or TCU would likely cause shifts in the odds. Changes in the weather forecast, particularly if conditions are expected to favor one team's playing style, could also impact trading. Furthermore, in-game performance during the first and second quarters—such as a dominant offensive showing or a key defensive stop—could lead to traders adjusting their predictions and altering the probabilities reflected in this market.
