Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and often incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists between this market and sportsbook odds, it may indicate that the crowd believes the sportsbook is mispricing the event. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities as perceived by different groups.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome. The price of a contract reflects the market’s probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy contracts for a particular outcome, the price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading activity influence price movements, and traders aim to profit by correctly anticipating the outcome and trading accordingly. The current price represents the collective assessment of all traders on Kalshi.
This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome will be determined by which team is leading after the first quarter of the West Virginia vs Iowa State game. The official result will be used to determine the winning contract, and payouts will be made to those who correctly predicted the 1st Quarter Winner. Traders should monitor official sources for the final result to understand when this market has fully settled.
