Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs about the most likely outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a particular exact score is more probable than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will shift accordingly. This can create opportunities for informed traders to potentially find value discrepancies between the two. Keep in mind that market dynamics can change rapidly as new information emerges.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores, and the price of each share reflects the market's assessment of its probability. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to find an equilibrium point where buyers and sellers agree. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are influenced by a variety of factors, including news about team form, injuries, and expert analysis.
