Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance their risk, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there's a significant discrepancy, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome and are subject to change based on new information or events.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price converges towards what the market collectively believes is the true probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Price fluctuations are driven by new information, team news, or shifts in public sentiment, and the 24-hour volume indicates the level of activity and interest in this particular market.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the Watford FC versus Burnley FC match. The official match records will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders who correctly predicted the first team to score will be entitled to a payout based on the final market prices at the time of resolution.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Watford FC or Burnley FC would likely cause price movement. Unexpected changes in team formations or tactical approaches could also influence trader sentiment. Furthermore, pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts and any significant shifts in public opinion regarding each team's chances of winning could all contribute to fluctuations in the market price. Even weather conditions on match day could play a role, potentially affecting the style of play and influencing which team is more likely to score first.
