In an upcoming football game between Washington and San Francisco, bettors can predict which team will score the first touchdown. The outcome depends solely on which team crosses the goal line first, regardless of how the points are scored.
The market resolves based on which team scores the first touchdown in the Washington vs San Francisco Pro Football game originally scheduled for Oct 19, 2026. All touchdowns count, including those scored offensively, defensively, or on special teams. If the first touchdown occurs in overtime, the market for that team resolves to Yes. If neither team scores a touchdown during the entire game, including overtime, the market titled No team scores a TD resolves to Yes. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the market resolves to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the governing league, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, but may also incorporate a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and beliefs, potentially leading to odds that more accurately reflect the true probability of an event. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the available data. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster than sportsbooks in response to new information.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each team scoring the first touchdown. As more people buy contracts for a particular team, the price of those contracts increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling contracts lowers the price. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price essentially represents the collective belief of all traders regarding the likelihood of each outcome. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities accordingly.
This market resolves around Oct 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team scored the first touchdown in the Washington versus San Francisco game. The resolution will be based on official game statistics and play-by-play data. The outcome will be determined by the official game records, ensuring a transparent and verifiable resolution process. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or settle their losing positions based on the final result.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either the Washington or San Francisco teams would likely cause shifts in the odds. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favorable to a specific offensive style, could also influence trading activity. Furthermore, any late-breaking reports about team strategies or coaching decisions could move the market. Public sentiment and expert analysis, while not directly reflected in the market, can also indirectly impact trader behavior and therefore the odds.
