This set of markets focuses on predicting the total points scored by both Wake Forest and California teams specifically in the fourth quarter of their college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to resolve as 'Yes'.
The markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams during the fourth quarter (excluding overtime) of the Wake Forest vs California college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. For each market, if the combined score exceeds the specified threshold—ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 points—the market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. Points from overtime periods are excluded from all calculations. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain active and resolve according to the final official result. If the game does not start within this 48-hour window, the markets will resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific outcome thresholds.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market represents the aggregated beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant difference exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously buying and selling contracts on Kalshi and at a sportsbook. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and discrepancies don't necessarily indicate one is 'right' or 'wrong'.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. Each contract represents a prediction about the total points scored in the 4th quarter. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the likely score. The current price indicates what traders are willing to pay or receive for a contract predicting a specific total.
This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point total scored in the fourth quarter of the Wake Forest versus California game will be used to determine which contracts pay out. Contracts predicting a total equal to or above the actual score will pay $100, while those predicting a lower total will expire worthless. The resolution will be based on official game statistics and will be publicly available following the game's completion.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game concludes. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Wake Forest or California would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to affect scoring, could also shift the market. Live game developments, such as a dominant performance by one team in the first three quarters, will undoubtedly cause the price to fluctuate as traders adjust their predictions. Unexpected coaching decisions or in-game adjustments could also contribute to movement in this market.
