Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals expressing their beliefs about the outcome. Often, prediction markets are more accurate than traditional forecasts, especially when there's significant public interest. However, sportsbook odds can be a useful point of comparison when evaluating the potential value in this market, and identifying discrepancies can present opportunities for informed traders.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the collective belief of the participants regarding the probability of that outcome occurring. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, providing a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event’s potential results. This creates a market-driven forecast that can be quite different from pre-event predictions.
