Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market allows traders to directly bet against each other. As a result, the odds here can sometimes differ from sportsbook lines, potentially offering value for informed traders. It’s common to see prediction markets aggregate information more efficiently, especially when there’s disagreement among bettors, leading to more accurate probabilities than those offered by traditional sources.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd, offering a forward-looking assessment of the Kaler vs Xu match's potential result. The current market volume indicates the level of interest and conviction among traders.
