Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market represents the aggregated beliefs of informed traders. If there’s a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that the market perceives information differently than sportsbooks, or that one venue has identified a mispricing. It's common to see differences, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts closer to the event date.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds remain responsive to new information and changing perceptions about the Gimbrere vs Ngounoue match.
