Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular outcome, they can create price pressure on Polymarket, potentially leading to odds that diverge from those offered by sportsbooks. It's a fascinating comparison of different forecasting approaches.
