Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their own beliefs and adjust probabilities based on new information. If there's a significant discrepancy, it might suggest that the market perceives information differently than sportsbooks, or that one venue has more informed traders. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially when a large volume of trading occurs.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome—in this case, either Veronika Podrez or Jana Otzipka winning the match. The price of each share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event's likelihood. The market's price is solely determined by supply and demand within Polymarket.
